Monday Feb 12, 2024
Monday Feb 12, 2024
What's up everybody? It seems that the announcement of the Switch 2 is imminent, so this week, the gang get together to talk about what we'd like to see from Nintendo's next console! Things like an upgraded dock, "transformer" controllers, official battery packs, revamped eShop, and Discord support are all discussed, PLUS we predict some of the games we envision the Switch 2 having in it's first year on the shelf (spoiler: unfortunately, neither of us are sure a new Zelda game is gonna be on that list)! We also talk about all of the rumors swirling around Xbox and Microsoft's future as a console publisher, the predicament of Game Pass, and the state of Microsoft's first party franchises.
All this, PLUS a little Taylor Swift/Super Bowl talk, the differences between the NFL and the CFL, and the new Tears of the Kingdom sales figures released! Come hang out with us!

Episode 303 - Live-Action Zelda Movie Pitches and Scenarios Examined
Monday Feb 05, 2024
Monday Feb 05, 2024
While any news or announcements on the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie may not be forthcoming for a while, that didn't our Zelda Dungeon writing staff from putting together an amazing feature called Dreams for the Silver Screen: Our Zelda Movie Pitches where, as the title suggests, they laid out their best ideas and scenarios for the upcoming flick, so this week, we're reacting and analyzing all the great thoughts found in the article! We debate things like how much, if at all, should the Zelda flick stick to official game lore, if we would be interested in seeing Link's parents, if Zelda and Link should have a romantic, platonic, or something in between kind of relationship, and why comparing this movie to Lords of the Rings or a Studio Ghibli film will be setting oneself up for disappointment.
This is just a fraction of the topics discussed, so come listen and weigh in on what you think works and what doesn't!

Monday Jan 29, 2024
We're back for another action packed episode as we take to answering some of our incredible Zelda Dungeon Writing Team's Daily Debate questions! We're talking a lot about Tears of the Kingdom specifically, giving our answers to questions like: would a new map have increased our enjoyment of the game? Could the Master Cycle Zero have worked in this version of Hyrule? Where would we have added an extra dungeon on the map? Is Tears the most replayable Zelda game of all time? What story plot holes stick in our craw?
All this, plus a ton of questions about Zelda in general, including speedrunning, 3-heart challenges, the upcoming movie, and so much more! Come and enjoy the ride with us!

Episode 301 - Pitching Concepts For A Cyberpunk Zelda Sequel!
Monday Jan 22, 2024
Monday Jan 22, 2024
Way back when, we pitched a (not to pat ourselves on the back, but a GREAT SOUNDING) cyberpunk Zelda game that would blend the traditions that we love in the series with some features and themes often associated in the cyberpunk genre. After three long year, we're BACK to give our ideas to TWO MORE cyberpunk Zelda titles! We're joined by Zelda Cast producer Adrielle Munger as she gives her vision for The Legend of Zelda: The Silent Sisters, a narrative focused survival based Zelda game with futuristic dungeons and a Princess Zelda you've never seen before, while Andy imagines a cyberpunk RPG that reimagines Link and company as programs defending Hyframe against portals to the dark web, a code-altering gang called the Randomizers, and two competing virus threats that will look familiar to anyone who watch the classic Canadian show ReBoot in The Legend of Zelda: The Twin Viruses!
All this, PLUS we recap last weeks Jeopardy show and look forward to the weeks ahead!

Episode 299 - Our Hopes and Expectations for Zelda in 2024!
Monday Jan 08, 2024
Monday Jan 08, 2024
Welcome to 2024! We're getting the year started off on the right foot by doing what we do best: basely speculating! We look forward to the end of 2024 and talk about which, if any, Zelda games we could see released and what scenario's would lead to that. Of course, the elephant in the room that will determine so much in 2024 is the Switch 2 and when it might be revealed and released, so we also spend some time covering our thoughts on that. Lastly, we look forward to more updates on the live action Zelda and touch on a recent article on Zelda Dungeon about the challenges the project will face!
All this, PLUS we set the stage for next weeks MASSIVE SHOWDOWN between the Zelda Cast and Omega Metroid Podcast's crews as we celebrate our 300th episode! We have a special Jeopardy game planned, so make sure you come and join us on Twitch to watch!

The year that was 2023 has come to a close, so the gang decide to reflect back on the year that! After a pretty lacklustre 2022, Zelda returned to form in 2023, thanks in no small part to the release of Tears of the Kingdom (finally!). We review the lead up to the game coming out, the trailers, the no-DLC confirmation, all the other Zelda games that made their way to NSO, midnight release stories, the hilarious tweet announcing the live action Zelda movie, and talk about some of the other games that came out, including our game of the year and other highlights!
All this, PLUS we set the stage for the third and final Zelda Cast vs Omega Trivia Extravaganza!

Episode 297 - Zelda Dungeon’s Best Zelda Ever 2023 List in Review!
Monday Dec 18, 2023
Monday Dec 18, 2023
It's the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas - Zelda Dungeon's Best Zelda Ever list is out, and as always, we're breaking it down game by game, entry by entry to see what we agreed with, disagreed with, were shocked by, and what pleasantly surprised us! The biggest questions this year were what kind of impact Tears of the Kingdom would have on the list, and if it could possibly dethrone Ocarina of Time as the list's champion after a dominant five year stretch! Plus, how does Breath of the Wild fare now that its sequel is out and has made it arguably obsolete? Plus, Andy reflects on his time as Editor-in-Chief, putting together the first couple BZE lists and how the standings have evolved over the years! Make sure you're checking out the list for yourself here!
Just a friendly FYI - THERE'S NO EPISODE NEXT WEEK, since, you know, Christmas, but we'll be back on January 1st to kick off 2024 in style! From everyone at the Zelda Cast and Zelda Dungeon, Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and have a safe New Years!

The 2023 Game Awards have come and gone, and just like in years past, we've watched it so you don't have too! We break down Tears of the Kingdom's performance and debate whether it deserved to win GOTY or not, as well as give our thoughts on some of the other winners and the format of Geoff Keighly's extravaganza as a whole! We also talk about what announcements got us excited and what games we're looking forward to! PLUS, we break down series producer Eiji Aonuma's recent thoughts on Tears of the Kingdom's timeline placement, if he thinks that players will ever return to that version of Hyrule, and what the future of the Ultrahand mechanic is!
This is a fun and breezy ride, so come hang out with us and let us know what you though of this years awards!

Episode 295 - Definitively Ranking Tears of the Kingdom!
Monday Dec 04, 2023
Monday Dec 04, 2023
After a long, long layoff, Definitive Ranking returns to the Zelda Cast, and what better game to usher its return than the most recent entry into the series: Tears of the Kingdom! We're going through ten critical categories that make up the ingredients to a Zelda game - world, story, pacing, art style, dungeons, bosses/enemies, items, gameplay, extras, and music - and assigning them each a score to see where Tears ranks among the hallowed halls of greatest Zelda games of all time! Some of the scores will be no-brainers, while others might leave you scratching your head, so come along and play with us, and of course, be sure to share what you think!
All this, PLUS a Skyward Sword puzzle update, Ganondorf and Zelda amiibo, and a big thanks to everyone who had us in their Spotify Wrapped!
