The Intro Dungeon: a games first dungeon that acts both as a tutorial as to how the rest of the game plays, and as a standalone experience. That's our definition anyways, so with that in mind, the gang discuss the 5 best intro dungeons in the series and give some honorable mentions to strong opening "areas". We also shoot on the worst intro sections (no points for guessing mine) and what made them so lackluster.

We recently undertook a mammoth task here at the site and polled 30 different staff members to gauge their favorite dungeons in the Zelda series. We then took all that data and made one overall list, with the dungeons that finished highest on most peoples lists getting pints that determined their placement on our master list. We finally revealed all 50 dungeons on that list, and the gang are here to give you their thoughts on the placements and what dungeons were the biggest snubs.

A couple months ago, the Zelda Dungeon writing team put their collective heads together to think of some specific in-depth changes they wanted to see take place from Breath of the Wild to its sequel. This week on the show, we go over the list of suggested changes and weight in on what we'd like to see! Recipe Books? A customizable base? Some forgeable weapons? More exuberant music? Underwater travel? A LINK THAT CAN TALK?!
All this and more explored this week, as the gang are joined by Tony Harris, aka Lorule Legend!

Live from Linktober's Zelda Creators Con comes an episode two years in the making - a Phantom Hourglass retrospective! Andy finally replayed Link's DS adventure for the first time in ten years and shares his thoughts with Alasyn and Mases, two big fans of the game. Is this the first bad Zelda game? What are our thoughts on Temple of the Ocean King? Do the controls kill the game for newbies? Does this game have some of the best items in the series? What do we think of Linebeck and Ciela? Buckle in and grab your weapons, because this week, we go in our way back machine to reminisce about everyone's favorite Hylian Hero making an unprecedented guest appearance in Namco's 2003 fighting game, Soulcalibur II! How did this happen? How does Link play? What were his weapons like? And what was the climate of the console wars back then? All this and a ton more are up for discussion!
But that's not all! We have TWO live streams to announce - first, NEXT SUNDAY at 4 PM Central, Alasyn and I will be joined by Mases as we host a live Phantom Hourglass retrospective podcast as part of Linktober's Zelda Creator Con. Ticket's are $1 (yes, you read that right) and you'll be able to see us live as well as tons of other amazing artists. For more details, check this out.
The second (and we'll have a post coming out with more details imminently) is on JUNE 20th at 9 PM Central, we will be hosting a Live Fundraiser to help raise funds for Black Lives Matter! We'll be ranking Zelda games all night and when we hit certain donation thresholds, even more Zelda games will added to the pot! Stay tuned for an in depth announcement coming shortly!

A day late, but a couple bucks over value, we are here to dive into The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. You guys know how these definitive ranking series work by now - we take 10 classic categories like dungeons, overworld, art style, music, etc. - and grade a Zelda game individually on these categories. Up to bat today is The Wind Waker. In a companion piece to our friends over at the Hyrule Compendium's own video, we tackle the game and go in depth to give you one of our longest shows yet!

So a couple weeks ago on my other podcast Virtual Theater, I was telling Gooey that I wouldn't buy the recently released Final Fantasy VII Remake because it was a remake of only the first 5-10% of the game. I even said "that would be like remaking Ocarina of Time and only having the entire game take place in Kokiri Forest!". Fast forward to now, and I caved and bought FFVIIR, really enjoyed it, and felt like it offered a complete experience. So in order to not have to eat a bunch of crow, I came up with an Ocarina of Time Remake game of my own... set entirely in Kokiri Forest!
Come hear my pitch on what this game could look like, what you could expand, how many dungeons you could include, and how big a re-imagined Kokiri Forest could look like! Is it an insane idea? Yes! Should it ever happen? Definitely not! Would you play the game I'm pitching Gooey this week? Let me know!
